How do i slow myself down when i speak?

when i go to speak it very seldom comes out the way i want it to. everything sounds rushed. can i slow myself down? i don't wanna sound like "I.....LIKE.....TE-LEEE-VI-SION" you see? so how can i slow myself down in a way where people can understand me and i don't sound like that ^^^^?
