Has text messenging ruined this generations spelling?

Quite honestly, its laziness on the part of everyone who texts, but its unspoken. Why spell a word right if the person knows what you mean and the brain recognizes what you meant anyway. Most of use can indeed spell, we just are too dam lazy to do it right!
