Should i get on birth control? Tired of tttc!?

i have been ttc #2 for 6 months.i am doing everything right the problem is my husband still drinks and even smokes maijuana on occasion.i am so tempted to get on birth control bec i am tired of getting my hopes up. and i feel like his sperm is defective. any suggestions?
