How can a super pale girl get tan!?

Okay so my situation is really difficult. Im italian and irish. I've got dark italian hair and pale white irish skin. So often people comment how fair I am cause it looks strange how pale i am with my dark hair features. my foundation is on the verge of white. when i was younger i used to tan really easily. but this past year i havent once. i went to madrid for 2 weeks last summer and i didnt even get a shade darker! this year i want to get tan but i dont wnat to look fake! please help!
